June 15, 2018 | By Louis Tully

Just because you’re on a tight budget doesn’t mean you have to settle for backyard hotdogs and cheap sparklers this July 4th. There’s no need to confine the fun to your house when there are so many public festivities happening all across the state. Louisiana offers plenty of events that are both affordable and fun, so this Fourth of July, visit one of these nearby cities and celebrate America’s birthday the right way!

New Orleans

Here’s an all-American city that really knows how to throw a party. If you live near New Orleans, it’s definitely worth making the trip over this July 4th. The city hosts its annual ESSENCE Music Festival, the nation’s largest African-American music festival held at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome and Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. Also, the city’s annual “Go 4th on the River” will showcase a massive fireworks display on the Riverfront.

Baton Rouge

Take a tour of Baton Rouge’s historic battleship USS KIDD for a July 4th experience you and your family will never forget. Also, enjoy face painting, games, food and live music at the annual Freedom Festival, which culminates with a spectacular fireworks display over the Mississippi River starting at 9 pm.

New Iberia

This July 4th, go join the crowd for the annual community parade after taking a stroll through New Iberia’s Main Street. After the parade, it’s time to head just west of New Iberia to Erath for a dazzling fireworks display. At this time of year, you can also enjoy New Iberia’s famous annual carnival, barbecue cook-off and watermelon-eating contest.

Lake Charles

Lake Charles will be hosting its annual July 4th Red, White, Blue & You Festival, featuring a street parade and a patriotic tribute to the U.S. Armed Forces by the Lake Charles Community Band. After the concert, stick around for a fireworks show big enough to light up the night over Lake Charles.

Don’t let your financial struggles keep you from enjoying a great family holiday like Independence Day in Louisiana. If you’ve got a financial emergency that’s keeping you up at night looking for a “title loan near me,” look no further than your local Cash Cow. At Cash Cow, you could get the emergency cash you need to handle your emergency in as little as 30 minutes so you can get back to the things that really matter. If you’re on a tight budget but still want to celebrate the Fourth of July the right way, take a look at your local events calendar to see what’s going on in a city near you today.
