From New Years to Christmas, we’ve got a lot of holidays observe throughout the year. But aside from traditional celebrations, we now have all sorts of new and obscure holidays that can turn even the most mundane of days into an occasion to commemorate something special.

On May 3rd, we celebrate Brothers and Sisters Day - a day when, you guessed it, we show our appreciation for our beloved siblings. If you’re fortunate enough to have a brother or sister, you know these special individuals have been there with you for most, if not all, of your life. Even though you may have gotten on each other’s nerves as kids, they could very well be one of your closest friends today. Here are 4 ways to show your sibling how much you really care about them this Brothers and Sisters Day:

Make a List

Make a list of all the special things you really like about your brother or sister. Despite all their quirks that may have driven you crazy as a kid, there’s bound to be several qualities about your sibling that you truly appreciate. Let them know what you like about them to brighten their day and put a smile on their face.

Make Their Favorite Meal

Growing up with each other in the same house and with the same parents, you tend to learn a lot about your siblings, even their favorite meal. Remember when mom would make you guys your favorite dinner? Recreate mom’s dish and invite them over for dinner on Brothers and Sisters Day. It’ll be sure to bring back some fun and tasty memories from your childhood.

Do Something Nostalgic With Them

Between the video games you played after school and the cartoons you watched after school and on Saturday mornings, you and your sibling have a lot in common from your past. Break out the old Nintendo and challenge them to your favorite childhood game.
